Ukraine’s Supreme Court Bars AI Chatbot Responses as Legal Evidence

Ukraine's highest judicial authority has established a landmark precedent prohibiting the use of generative AI outputs as evidentiary material. The ruling clarifies that while systems like Grok and ChatGPT may serve auxiliary functions, they cannot substitute human judgment in legal proceedings.

The decision originated from a commercial dispute involving municipal land lease terms, where one party sought to introduce AI-generated content as proof. Courts at multiple levels consistently rejected this approach, emphasizing the non-delegable nature of judicial reasoning.

This jurisprudence reinforces the principle that technological tools must enhance rather than replace legal processes. The Special Bench explicitly warned against ceding judicial autonomy to algorithmic systems, marking a significant boundary in the intersection of law and artificial intelligence.
